Working Hands

I always thought work was a curse, but in recent days I feel my mind is being renewed to think of work from a different perspective. In Genesis, man is cursed to toil and sweat for his bread. To me it seems now that the things we work hardest at in this life are often the most satisfying and memorable. Could it be that God our Father designed it this way for His children?

A very good friend of mine told me a while back, "When you have to make a choice about something or need to make a decision one way or the other, it is most probable that the hardest thing to do is the right thing to do." I have found this statement to be quite accurate.

Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody. ~ 1 these. 4:11-12

I enjoy being in the middle of excitement and fun, I love trying to "fix" other people's problems, and I am most definitely not inclined to work, unless I can make good money doing it along with a lot of recognition and appreciation. After some conviction, reflection, and repentance: I am determined to live as this verse advises. I want to spend some time meditating on each of the directives here as it pertains to my life presently.
